Climate Change and Environment Symposium Held at Piri Reis University!

Piri Reis University hosted the Climate Change and Environment Symposium, which addressed the impacts of climate change on the maritime sector and ways to tackle them.

The program opened with speeches by Ayşe OLCAY, President of the Maritime Culture Association; our Rector, Prof. Dr. Nafiz ARICA; and Tamer KIRAN, Chairman of the Board of the IMEAK Chamber of Shipping and Chairman of our Board of Trustees.

The symposium consisted of three sessions:

“The Maritime Sector Under the Threat of Climate Change”
“Seas and People Under the Threat of Climate Change”
“Combating Climate Change”

In each session, expert academics, industry representatives and experienced speakers took a multifaceted look at the impacts of climate change on the maritime sector, environmental risks, sustainable policies and green transformation processes.

Throughout the symposium, critical topics such as risk management, climate policy, sustainable agriculture, environmental management, biodiversity and international cooperation were discussed, offering a comprehensive, maritime-focused perspective on the climate crisis.
