The “Sustainable Fashion Seminar,” organized by Piri Reis University Faculty of Law as part of the LAW615 course, was delivered by Prof. Dr. Barbara Pozzo of the University of Insubria, Italy. In the seminar, Prof. Dr. Pozzo examined the environmental and ethical challenges facing today’s fashion industry from a legal perspective.

The seminar explored in detail topics such as the environmental impacts of the rapidly growing global fashion sector, labor rights, supply chain transparency and sustainable production processes. It emphasized that sustainability should be considered not only in its environmental dimension but also in its legal, social and economic dimensions. Participants found the discussions on how regulations could be developed in the context of fashion law, and on the importance of legal frameworks that contribute to sustainability, truly eye-opening.

At the event, students saw that it is possible to specialize in both law and sustainability, and gained valuable insight into how they can shape their careers with a multidisciplinary approach. Academics noted that integrating legal education with current and dynamic issues strengthens students’ professional skills.

In this seminar, which focused on the transformative power of law for a sustainable future, Prof. Dr. Barbara Pozzo also offered a concrete example of how Piri Reis University integrates its academic work with a sense of social responsibility.

We would like to thank all the academics who contributed, our students for their keen interest and everyone who helped organize the event.

Participation in this event is free of charge.
