Prof. Dr. Nafiz ARICA, Rector of Piri Reis University, delivered a presentation titled “Digitalization and Green Transformation: Smart Maritime Applications” at the Blue Economy Summit – Black Sea 2026, held in Trabzon.

The summit, held with international participation, brought together public sector representatives, academics, the private sector and stakeholders in the maritime field. It provided an important platform for discussing the blue economy, sustainability and digital transformation.

In his presentation at the summit, Prof. Dr. Nafiz ARICA emphasized that digitalization in the maritime sector is gaining momentum and that green transformation has become a strategic necessity. He highlighted the contributions of smart maritime applications to operational efficiency, safety and environmental sustainability. He also shared his views on reducing the carbon footprint, energy efficiency and the integration of innovative technologies into the sector.

Hosted by Trabzon, the summit addressed collaborations and strategic approaches aimed at developing the blue economy potential of the Black Sea. With its academic expertise and practice-oriented work in the maritime field, Piri Reis University took its place at this important platform.
