“Green Transformation Platform” Held at Piri Reis University

The “Green Transformation Platform: Innovative Solutions for Green Transformation in Maritime Sessions,” organized to contribute to the sustainability-focused transformation of the maritime sector, was held on April 16, 2026, in the Foyer Area of Piri Reis University’s Sea Campus with strong attendance.

The event brought together academia, industry representatives and entrepreneurs. It offered a comprehensive look at how green transformation is shaping the maritime sector, as well as innovative technologies and entrepreneurship opportunities. The program opened with a speech by Prof. Dr. Nafiz ARICA, Rector of Piri Reis University, and continued throughout the day with presentations by experts in the field.

The event examined in detail critical topics such as green transformation in coaster shipping, fleet renewal processes, entrepreneurship support, R&D and innovation activities, carbon footprint measurement, electric systems and remote monitoring technologies. Solution proposals addressing the sector’s needs and examples of good practice were also shared with participants.

The program was held in two sessions, in which academics and representatives of public institutions and the private sector shared their knowledge and experience, offering participants a multifaceted perspective. In the evaluation session at the end of the day, recommendations for a sustainable future for the maritime sector were shared, and the importance of increasing collaboration opportunities was emphasized. Aiming to raise awareness of green transformation and bring sector stakeholders together, the event concluded with strong attendance and interest.
