Sea Drone Demonstration

As part of the LEARN4SEA project, the sea drone (Smartium) acquired by Piri Reis University was demonstrated to guests attending the 2nd Meeting of the LEARN4SEA Project – Innovative Joint Learning for Environmentally Friendly Behaviours of Communities in the Black Sea Basin, held on 11 April 2025. The capabilities and performance of the Smartium sea drone under different sea conditions were observed and appreciated by the guests.

The Smartium sea drone is a remotely operated vehicle designed to collect pollution from the sea surface. Using GPS connectivity, it can navigate to predefined locations and collect waste floating on the sea surface in its onboard basket during its journey.
