“Türkiye’s Geopolitical Position and the Use of Water Resources” Seminar Held

The presentation titled “Türkiye’s Geopolitical Position and the Use of Water Resources,” organized by the Culture Coordinatorship under Piri Reis University’s Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports Services, was delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdülkadir Akturan of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences on Friday, April 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in our University’s Seminar Hall.

The event explored Türkiye’s geopolitical position and the strategic use of its water resources from various angles. In the presentation, which drew strong interest from participants, Asst. Prof. Dr. Akturan highlighted Türkiye’s strategic importance on a regional and global scale, its geographical advantages and the geopolitical challenges it faces. He also used striking examples to explain current developments in the sustainable management of the country’s water resources and the threats linked to climate change.

The event also offered a comprehensive assessment of Türkiye’s water policies, water sharing in the context of relations with neighboring countries and future scenarios. In the Q&A session that followed the presentation, participants had the opportunity to ask Asst. Prof. Dr. Akturan questions and discuss the topics in greater depth.
